These folks have a good/ generic email/database use case. We've been=20
talking internally about connectivity between email and CiviCRM (perhaps=20
processing emails that are sent to a bcc address and appending them to=20
CRM records as activities). Is this type of thing a use case that other=20
people out there have?

The organization I am currently working with is looking for recommendations=
advice, and referrals on a data project that involves synching the email cl=
with a database to capture email addresses and contact info.  I'm not sure =
this type of software exists, or if requires heavy customization and
programming.  If you have any ideas, please let me know, it would be very
helpful.  My inclination is to think that there may be enterprise systems o=
there that do this type of thing, but they are not within our budget, which=
what I have been charged with to prove.

Here is more information:

The Great Valley Center is currently soliciting recommendations and bids on=
contact database project in which the email program and the contact databas=
program=C2=92s main table work together so that when an email is sent, the =
address and name attached to it are checked against the main contact databa=
and if the information is not a match, a new record is added.

As a bidder, you may propose different hardware, software and programming.=
Your proposal also should include staff training and system maintenance.

Currently we have a small network and use MS Access 2002 for our main conta=
database and MS Outlook 2002 for email.  The contact database has many rela=
tables, and various input forms for event registration, speaker assignments=
sponsorship tracking; donations and thank yous; groupings on various issues=
tracking record changes, etc.  Every user has his/her own Outlook Contacts =
their C Drive.

TechFinder is a searchable, online directory of individuals=20
and organizations that provide technology products and=20
services to the nonprofit sector. =20
