Diving NSW has been using Joomla 1.0.x for the last 2 years. We currently use AEC with Community Builder to handle membership and Attend Events to handle event registration.

It's now time to upgrade to Joomla 1.5. We have been looking for a complete integration to handle membership and events.
After much research along with trial and error with some other Joomla components CiviCRM 3.1 fits our needs best. Unfortunately, CiviCRM didn't handle our membership needs perfectly so we enlisted Claudian Fernandes at WebAccess http://www.webaccessglobal.com/civicrm-professional-services to help.

Diving NSW's organisation needed a completely automated club affiliation and membership sign up procedure. We needed our clubs to affiliate themselves with Diving NSW and then be placed into the CiviCRM contacts as a separate organisation. Then, members who need to register with Diving NSW can sign up and choose their club (which has already been affiliated) from an AJAX search box that grabs the affiliated clubs from the CiviCRM contacts.

Claudian Fernandes from webaccess also customised the Organisation form which gets displayed on a contribution page when "signing up on behalf of an organisation" as this was the default for our Club Affiliation membership contribution page.

We have managed to migrate our Joomla 1.0 to 1.5 successfully using a little component called mtwmigrator. mtwmigrator migrates the database migrating users, articles, sections, categories, menus, modules, etc as well as some 3rd party components such as Docman and Virtuemart. A new template has been installed too care of JoomlArt http://www.joomlart.com.

We are currently working on a test site before going live. So far so good!

TO DO:
Set up CiviCRM global configuration including custom profiles, payment processors and automated email templates.
Set up CiviCRM contribution pages for membership and club affiliation.
Set up CiviCRM event pages for upcoming competitions and other events.
Install and set up photo gallery and import photos from old website.
Set Up modules and positions as well as finishing touch cosmetics.

Will keep you posted on progress.
