Configure Tags Overview

TAGS (CATEGORIES) provide a way to categorize contacts. Tags can be assigned to any kind of contact record and you can create as many tags as needed to organize and segment contact records.

Configure Tags

Begin at the Administer CiviCRM page. In the Option Lists section, choose Tags (Categories).

You will see a list of existing tags (Company, Non-profit). You can create a NEW tag, Edit or Delete EXISTING tags using the links to the right of each tag.

NEW

To enter a New Tag, click on the »New Tag link at the bottom of the list of tags.

Type in the Name and Description for each tag.

Click Save to save the tag.

If successful, you will see the message:

The tag "Major Donor" has been saved.

EXISTING

For EXISTING prefixes you can Edit or Delete each option using the links to the right of each tag.

EDIT

Selecting Edit will bring you to the Edit Tag page where you can change the Name and Description for each tag.

Click Save to save the tag.

If successful, you will see the message:

The tag "Major Donor" has been saved.

DELETE

Select Delete to delete the tag. You will be given this warning:

Are you sure you want to delete Major Donor Tag?

Click Delete to continue or Cancel to cancel the deletion.
