Can I use custom fields in CiviMember?

QUESTION:
I'm in the middle of a migration from a legacy membership system and there's a few hurdles that custom fields
would aid:

  • "pass up benefits" — if the contact doesn't want to receive the 4 DVD set etc.
  • "complimentary" — there are 7 levels of membership. An admin can assign a contact to any level as complimentary. I don't want to make 14 different membership levels for this.

RESPONSE:
There is support for adding custom fields to Membership records in 1.7. They can be used to extend ANY membership type or linked to a specific membership type.
