it would be great to have

  • a search interface for anonymous users browsing public profile data (seems like it would just need to generate the url)
  • a way to send out rss feeds to smart-groups on a regular cron schedule.
we are working to make fucktheregents.com an organizing hub for the university of california santa cruz, with potential expansion to other uc campuses also in mind. we want to store user data in civicrm in order to be able to collect and selectively display custom info. we plan to set up drupal taxonomy for each of several social issues: Affordable Tuition and Democracy at UCSC, Diversity, Labor Solidarity, Peace etc. i also set up civicrm smart groups in the registration form that will allow people to subscribe to massmailer lists and recieve updates. in addition to being able to send out messages to these lists, it would also be great to be able to have a weekly listing of all the content in a given taxonomy (including events) sent out to subscribed users. this would remind people of campaigns, keeping them in the loop and informed without overloading their inboxes. i've looked into the drupal notify and subscription modules, but both are prohibitively difficult for users to understand, (ie. not in the registration form), and of course do not store user data in a way that would let us send out a custom message to a certain group.
  • a way to offer multiple registration forms to users. "register your organization" and "sign up to receive updates"

cool, thanks everybody.

    Ryan:

    1. is currently implemented and working in trunk

    2. You can implement that using the CiviCRM API (sending out RSS feeds). We will also be introducing mass mailer capabilities in 2.0 which should enable you to send out weekly newsletters to select groups

    3. is a requested feature, but we still need to figure out how to change the registration form for users. Can u expand a bit more on 3? Note that you can have multiple profiles in CiviCRM
