The following are the services and processes invovled in creating and maintaining your database and website.  They are provided by organisations working with CiviCRM and make up the ecosystem surrounding this project.

Clients and developers (both current and potential) are welcome to add processes you think are missing.  Register, login and edit the page or add a comment.  An organisation can then step up to offer the service.

Initial development

  1. Project management (overall management of the development process)
  2. Funding advice
    1. What budget do you have for development?
    2. Have you considered the following sources for funding
      1. Big lottery basis bid
      2. Self funding
      3. Local Community Foundations
  3. Requirements analysis
    1. What projects are you working on?
    2. How do you segment your clients?
    3. How do you currently hold your data?
    4. What are your monitoring and reporting needs?
    5. What regional and sub-regional partnerships are you part of and how do these impact on your requirements? (joint monitoring requirements, etc.)
    6. How is your organisation likely to change in the future?
    7. How do you staff your IT needs as an organisation?
  4. Joint development
    1. Are there any similar organisations / regional or sub-regional partnerships that you could apply for funding with?
  5. Data transfer and population
  6. Graphic design

Training and ongoing services

  1. Telephone support
    1. Support contract with guaranteed availability, response and resolution times for trouble shooting, administrational changes, etc. (with link between paid support and online forums)
  2. Comprehensive online documentation and support forums
  3. Training
    1. Staff training. Includes day to day use of the database and how to integrate CiviCRM with organisational processes like team meetings, strategic planning, pathway analysis.
    2. Administrator training. The more skills you have in house, the less you will rely on support from external organisations.
    3. Developer training. Learn to develop CiviCRM for other clients.
  4. Settling in service - monitor first 1 or 2 months use of database (and website if applicable) with intense support
  5. Check up visit after you've been using systems six months
  6. CiviCRM UK usergroup meet ups every two months at different locations around the UK. A great opportunity to meet other users, developers and get more involved in the project
  7. Maintenance and updates
    1. To ensure you are using the latest version CiviCRM, and making good use of extra modules.
  8. Hosting
    1. Management of web space and domain name
  9. Data security
    1. Backup and restore procedures

Further development and Improvement

  1. Input into improving the software.  What functionality is missing? (suggest and vote for functionality at http://civicrm.uservoice.com/)
  2. Co-ordination of resources for further development.  By each contributing a small amount of money and time into requirements analysis and testing, we can develop great functionality.
  3. Regular evaluation and improvement of these processes.
