| Initial project request IkamvaYouth is a by-youth, for-youth non-profit organisation in South Africa that works with school learners living and learning in poverty and helps them to access higher education or employment. Following our successes (our learners leave school with good academic results and last year over 70% got into university), our model is being implemented in other communities around South Africa. The numbers of volunteers, supporters, funders, partners, writers, etc. are increasing rapidly, and we need CiviCRM to help us manage and communicate with our network. We have installed CiviCRM, but need help customising it for our needs (mostly by making the categories and groupings relevant, and simplifying it by taking some un-needed aspects out). We do not have funds for this, and so we really hope that the CiviCRM team will help us as part of Mozilla Service week! PS You can find out more about us on www.ikamvayouth.org. We're currently re-working our site to the latest version of drupal, but it still has a way to go before we launch it.. |
Questions
- Where is the site hosted? Site admin - who does that (backups etc.)
- Where is contact data currently stored (volunteers, parents, teachers, etc.)? Have you looked at importing it into your CiviCRM install?
- What info do you need to store about Volunteers?
- How do you currently run the Saturday tutoring signup? How many volunteers weekly (approx)?
There is a lot that we'd like to do. Our list of categories is below. However, the key priority at the moment is getting volunteer sign-up forms and to use CiviCRM to store info about our volunteers, create a form on our site so that volunteers can sign up, and create a form that they can fill in each week to let us know if they're available for Saturday tutoring or not.
