Draft CiviReport Phase 1 Specifications under construction here...
Suggestions for Pre-configured Reports
These are use cases for pre-configured reports w/ some input parameters.
From Bjorn Arneson:
- Contact display name + cumulative gift total for contacts of type = Z (e.g. individual, and/or household, and/or organization) that gave between $x-$y in total contributions in the period from YYYYMMDD to YYYYMMDD.
From CivicSpace Customers
- Donor Contributions (same as Bjorn above). [fname, lname, email, lifetime contribution value] [David, Geilhufe, dg@, $3,460]. Used as an overview of donors, quickly offering the user an overview of who there biggest donors are. Input contribution type.
- Recent Contributions. [default Civicontribute search return columns]. Find out contribution performance over the last week, last month, etc. Input contribution type and the period YYYYMMDD to YYYYMMDD. This is already supported by CiviContribute search, but we probably want users to go to just one place for reports rather than have to know to go to reports or search according to what report they want.
- Recent Contributors. [default search return columns + lifetime contributions] Listing of contacts who made a contribibution recently. Input contribution type and the period YYYYMMDD to YYYYMMDD.
- Recently created contacts. [default search return columns + create date] List recently created contact. Input group and create date range YYYYMMDD and YYYYMMDD.
- Bonus: Allow users to apply search views to reports to customize the columns displayed.
- CivicSpace is happy to work on the pre-configured reports for the release.
- Campaign reporting. Integrate civimailing data with donations. Reports showing opens, clicks, donations, and calculating response rate based on total number of e-mails sent (preferably with graphics in addition to data).

A big priority for us is "Some year but not this year" and "last year but not this year."

This is what I heard from our development office yesterday:
1. For a given fiscal year, number and total $ of gifts assigned to specific bins, i.e. undet 50, 51-100,101-500,501-1000,1000-5000, 5001+
2. Total percent giving during a fiscal year for specific mutually exclusive categories of donors, i.e. trustees, parents, alumni, grandparents, friends. (They call this their "hierarchy," each user goes to the highest group they are a member of)
3. Total and percent giving during a fiscal year for categories that may overlap. That is, take the same list as above, but assume that people can be in more than one category, i.e. trustee and grandparent.
4. Total giving in a fiscal year by fund.
5. All of the above comparing current fiscal year to previous fiscal year.

Another important kind of reporting is being able to pull out and list all individuals associated with their households and all individuals associated with organizations.
